Gray Ghost Comic's - An Origin Story Focused on Community
In “Beware the Gray Ghost,” a 1992 episode of the Batman Animated Series, Bruce Wayne bonds with his childhood hero, Simon Trent, the “Gray Ghost,” over their collections of Gray Ghost memorabilia, and the two eventually team up to save Gotham City from the Mad Bomber.
All in a day’s work for the Dark Knight and the Gray Ghost.
At Tifton’s Gray Ghost Comics, you might not find a ninjitsu-trained eccentric billionaire fighting crime in a rubber suit, but you also might.
Opened by longtime comics fans Scott Beasley and Andrew Elder in 2019, Gray Ghost is Tifton’s one-stop shop for comic books, memorabilia, games, and even vinyl records.

As the only place in Tifton where you can get a Velvet Underground record and a replica Red Ranger helmet, the store offers a diverse selection of products, including new comic book issues, graphic novels, action figures, statues, Funko Pops, and trading cards.
Recognizing the need for connection in the community over tabletop gaming, Gray Ghost Comics hosts regular events for Magic: The Gathering and other tabletop role-playing game sessions every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. These gatherings cultivate a welcoming environment where both seasoned players and newcomers can engage, create, and learn from one another.
Beyond the Books
Gray Ghost is more than just a retail location, providing a crucial “third space” for the comics and gaming communities in South Georgia to gather. Gray Ghost Comics actively participates in community events.
The store celebrates Free Comic Book Day annually, providing patrons with complimentary comics from various publishers and organizing signings with industry professionals and renowned artists.
Beyond providing space for the Tifton community, Gray Ghost has become a destination in itself for comics enthusiasts from all over, regularly drawing customers from Florida, Alabama, and beyond.
Hometown Heroes
For Scott, a born and raised Tifton native, the decision to open Gray Ghost Comics in his hometown was a no-brainer.
“Tifton means a lot to me,” he says of his decision to plant and grow his business in Tifton. “It’s a small town; everybody looks out for each other.”

The community love between Tifton and Gray Ghost goes both ways. During the COVID-19 pandemic, comics fans in Tifton and beyond rallied behind the shop – making remote purchases and checking in on Scott and the shop to make sure Gray Ghost survived those turbulent times.
As Scott’s business continues to thrive, he’s looking forward to growing in Tifton – eyeing an expansion into a bigger and more central shop with more room to gather, read, and play in the next five years.

Visit Gray Ghost
While you might not run into the actual Dark Knight in downtown Tifton anytime soon, if you find yourself on E. 3rd Street, you’ll find something arguably even better, and it won’t come with the risk of being poisoned by a plant woman or blasted with a freeze ray.
